  • ImprovedScanning and reporting are now where the thumb is. Both sat in the header, at the top edge of the screen — on a phone of today the hardest place to reach, and precisely for the two actions needed most often in the field. Scan is an item of its own in the bottom bar, Report remains permanently visible as a button just above it.
  • ImprovedThe quick access fits on one screen again. Icon and word sit side by side instead of one above the other; all six tiles are visible without scrolling. The greeting above is flatter, and the connection state is no longer a badge inside it but a coloured dot beside the gear — so it applies on every page, not only on the home screen.
  • FixedThe splash screen showed the brand twice, one above the other. On top of the icon of the native splash screen, the app showed the same icon again above the wordmark — which already carries it.
  • NewThe app writes a proper log. With level, rotation and clean-up instead of the appended lines used so far. Every request additionally carries a correlation id that the server records too: a call to support can therefore be traced from the device right into the installation.

  • NewThe app is now called Ordivis — and for Android that makes it a new app. Icon, wordmark, splash screen and colours follow the new corporate design. Because the package id changes with it, Android cannot install this version as an update to the previous one: it is installed alongside. Before removing the old app, please check whether anything there is still waiting to be transmitted — queued reports, ticked checklists and downloaded manuals live in the old app and do not move across by themselves. Sign in again in the new app.
  • NewManuals and checklists without a network — take them with you beforehand. Published operations and emergency manuals can be pulled onto the device, and every row says whether it is already there. That is the heart of the matter: an emergency manual is needed when power or network are gone — exactly when downloading no longer works. Assigned checklists are ticked off without a connection; the tick appears immediately, and the row says that it has not been sent yet.
  • NewOrdering from the service catalogue. With handling time and approval requirement shown before before ordering, not after.
  • FixedEight faults that only appeared on the device. The test runs were green — on the phone it looked different. The most conspicuous: the key-figure screen permanently displayed a notice that the data was out of date, even with freshly loaded numbers. The cause was a notice bar whose visibility could not be controlled through the switch provided for it; all that counts is whether there is text in it.
  • ImprovedColour scheme Ordivis in the app as well. The same turquoise and navy tones as in the client and the portal, light and dark.

  • NewNFC tags on the device — in addition to the label. Hold an NFC tag against the phone and assign it to a device; the same verified reference that is in the QR code is written to it. On the scan page, camera and NFC run at the same time — you do not choose a mode, you simply hold up whatever is there. A label is reliable on metal but has to be visible; an NFC tag is read through plastic and in the dark but fails on metal. On hard-to-reach devices, both are worth having. Please note: The id of an NFC chip is not a security feature — it sits unencrypted in the chip and identifies like a printed inventory number, no more.
  • NewLooking up knowledge articles without a network. Whatever you have opened once stays on the device. In the basement or in the plant room the app shows the cached state — and says when it is from, so that a solution does not falsely look like the current one. Only what you have opened is cached, not the whole knowledge base: a lost phone should not be a copy of your internal documentation. On signing out and on clearing local data, the cache goes with it.
  • NewReporting every ticket type, not only incidents. Incident, request, problem and change are offered above the form — the same four as at the workstation. Incident stays preselected: it is the normal case on site, and anyone who only wants to report something should not have to set anything. Without a network too, the queued report keeps its type.
  • ImprovedThe ticket history is colour-coded as at the workstation. Messages from the reporter in green, replies from the handling side in blue, internal notes in amber, automatic entries in narrow grey. Until now all entries looked the same; who had written was only shown small in the footer, and an internal note differed from a customer reply by a small badge alone — in the reporter's presence a difference that counts. Colour never carries the message on its own: the icon in the header says the same.
  • ImprovedEvery route is offered only once. „Report an incident" sat as a tile beside the „Report" button, „My tickets" beside „Tickets" in the bottom bar, „Scan" beside the viewfinder in the header, „Devices" beside the bar entry of the same name. Quick access now carries only what is not reachable anywhere else — stocktaking, knowledge and key figures — and disappears entirely if none of those is enabled.

  • NewThe app speaks German and English. Every text of the interface exists in both languages; the app follows the device's language setting. Until now, English remnants stood between the German screens.
  • NewThe knowledge base comes along. Search and formatted articles — so that the instructions are available where the fault is, not at the desk.
  • NewService desk key figures on the home screen. Open tickets, your own tickets, overdue items and those resolved today — the same numbers as at the workstation, within your own permissions.
  • SecurityPhotos leave the phone without metadata. Location, device model and timestamp are removed before uploading. A photo from the server room would otherwise have attached its coordinates to the ticket.
  • SecurityScanned labels are checked for authenticity. The QR code now carries a short check value from which the server recognises that the label came from this installation. Checking happens on the server, not on the phone. Labels already printed without a check value remain valid.
  • FixedAn English server message on the sign-in screen — anew at every start. There was more behind it than a translation gap: because the server reported an expired session key with an unexpected error code, the message also slipped past the clean-up. The dead sign-in stayed put and the error repeated at every start, with nothing to be done about it. Now the first start clears it out.
  • FixedAn entry could hang in the queue for ever. If the server rejected a photo permanently, the entry was neither done nor refused — the home screen then showed „1 waiting to be transmitted" endlessly. After five attempts the app gives up and says explicitly that the ticket was created and only the photo is missing.
  • FixedAn endless loop when re-sending. If a full batch of permanently rejected entries was to be sent, the next pass fetched exactly the same ones — without end. It now stops when no progress is made, not by batch size.

State of development as at 29 July 2026. The app is still not generally available — the distribution channel (managed Google Play or your own device management) is currently being decided.

Week 30 · 20 Jul – 26 Jul 20261 version

  • NewThe Ordivis app for Android. Helpdesk, inventory and stocktaking on the work phone — for everyone who does not do their job at a desk: in the server room, in the store, at the user's side.
  • NewSign-in with biometric unlock. The server address is stored and checked per device. After the first sign-in the session can be resumed by fingerprint or face; accounts with a second factor are supported. Which areas someone sees follows the same permissions as at the workstation.
  • NewA scanner for labels and barcodes. The camera reads QR codes and barcodes — with multi-scan, torch and haptic feedback on every hit.
  • NewDevices and configuration items on the move. Profile, chronological history from the audit module and the asset tag as a QR code — plus a searchable device list.
  • NewReporting an incident, with a photo. Straight from the device detail: subject prefilled, urgency and impact separately adjustable, the photo goes to the new ticket as an attachment.
  • NewStocktaking and goods receipt in the field. Choose or create a stocktaking run, after which every scan books into that run — unknown codes are recorded as unexpected instead of discarded. Goods receipt sets the lifecycle phase with a date and a note.
  • NewTickets fully mobile. A list with search and the switches „mine only" and „open only", a detail view with the history, and the three actions for the road: take on, set status („resolved" requires a note) and internal note.
  • NewWorking without a network. Without a connection, actions move into a local queue and go out later by themselves — each exactly once, even if sending is repeated. If the same record was changed on the server in the meantime, the app overwrites nothing but presents both states and lets the human decide.
  • NewAn interface in the Ordivis design. Material Design 3 in the product's colour world, light and dark of equal standing, a navigation bar at the bottom edge and controls sized for one-handed use. Launcher icon, header and start sequence carry the brand instead of the development template.
  • SecurityOrigin and device are in the audit trail. Every change from the app is logged as such, together with the device id — making it traceable who booked what, when and from where.

State of development as at 26 July 2026. The app is not yet not generally available — the distribution channel (managed Google Play or your own device management) is currently being decided.
